Role summary
Sentra is the regional intelligence infrastructure for Eastern Europe, built to measure digital public discourse where global tools fail. This role builds and maintains the data pipelines that ingest, process, and serve the discourse data our benchmarks depend on. Accuracy of the pipeline is accuracy of the product.

What you will do
- Design, build, and maintain backend services and data pipelines in Python, deployed on GCP.
- Write and optimize SQL against high-volume, multilingual discourse data.
- Own data quality: validation, deduplication, and monitoring across ingestion stages.
- Translate analytical requirements from the data science team into reliable, production-grade services.
- Instrument pipelines with logging and metrics so failures surface before they reach a dashboard.
- Participate in code review and contribute to internal engineering standards.

What we're looking for
- 2-3 years of professional backend or data engineering experience.
- Strong working proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, or similar).
- Demonstrated analytical thinking: comfort breaking down ambiguous data problems into clear, testable steps.
- Working knowledge of version control (Git) and standard CI practices.
- Clear written communication — this role interfaces with data science and product on a regular basis.

Nice to have
- Experience with streaming or near-real-time data pipelines.
- Exposure to NLP or text-processing pipelines, particularly for non-English languages.
- Familiarity with containerized deployments (Docker, Cloud Run, or Kubernetes).
